For the first time, a remarkable selection of pieces from Andrew Ainsworth and Shepperton Design Studios is being offered at auction.

The collection brings together items spanning nearly five decades of Star Wars history, from rare 1976 prototype Stormtrooper helmets to original production tooling, moulds and a complete life-size R2 droid.

Among the six lots are early prototype Stormtrooper helmets documenting the development of the now-iconic design, E11 blaster production moulds, Darth Vader production moulds, and R2 Unit 105, the final example assembled under the guidance of Shepperton Design Studios.

Together, the collection offers a fascinating glimpse behind the finished props and into the practical processes of sculpting, mould-making, vacuum forming and fabrication that helped bring some of cinema's most recognisable characters to life.

The collection will be auctioned by The Auction Room London on 29 September 2026.
